Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines celebrated the successful merger of Air India and Vistara at a symbolic ceremony at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi, marking a new era in their deep and longstanding partnership.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, and Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines, as well as senior management and employees from Tata, SIA, Air India, and Vistara, marked the dawn of a new chapter for the Indian aviation industry.

The consolidation of the four airlines within the Air India Group into one full-service airline and one low-cost airline is part of the ongoing five-year transformation program known as Vihaan.AI. This restructuring aims to establish a robust presence for the Air India Group across all key segments of the Indian market, including domestic and international flights, as well as both full-service and low-cost operations. The initiative will enhance the Group's operational capabilities, expand its customer base, and gradually improve service standards, product quality, and overall customer experience.

After the merger, the Air India Group operates a combined fleet of 300 aircraft, serving 55 domestic and 48 international destinations across 312 routes with 8,300 weekly flights. The airline will provide extended global connectivity to over 800 destinations through over 75 codeshare and interline partners. The total staff strength exceeds 30,000.
