AirAsia to Shift Check-In Operations to Terminal 2 at Hong Kong Airport

AirAsia has announced that it will relocate its check-in services for international departures at Hong Kong International Airport from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, effective May 28, 2026.

Hong Kong Airport: AirAsia Check-In Moves to T2

According to the airline, the change will apply only to check-in and baggage drop procedures. Boarding operations and baggage collection for arriving passengers will continue to take place at Terminal 1.

Passengers departing from Hong Kong will be required to complete check-in formalities at Terminal 2 before returning to Terminal 1 for departure. The two terminals are connected, with an estimated walking time of approximately five minutes. Check-in counters will be located at Row V in the International Departure area of Terminal 2.

AirAsia stated that affected passengers will be informed through their registered contact details, while users of the AirAsia MOVE app will receive push notifications.

The airline continues to encourage passengers to use online check-in via its website or mobile app, available from 14 days up to one hour before departure. Check-in counters and baggage drop close one hour prior to scheduled departure time.

Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure and to allow additional time for movement between terminals. Cabin baggage allowances remain unchanged, with a maximum of one main cabin bag and one personal item, subject to a combined weight limit of 7 kg.

Flight status updates are available through the airline’s website and mobile application.
