Air Canada Suspends Q3 and 2025 Guidance Amid Labour Disruption
Air Canada has suspended its guidance for third quarter and full-year 2025 operating results due to the ongoing labour disruption involving the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the resulting suspension of all flights.
On August 17, 2025, the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) directed Air Canada to resume operations and for all flight attendants to return to duty by 14:00 EDT the same day. The CIRB also extended the expired collective agreement, effective April 1, 2025, until a new deal is in place, and imposed final binding arbitration to resolve outstanding terms.

However, later that day, CUPE instructed its members to defy the CIRB’s direction, preventing the airline from resuming limited operations as planned.
As a result, the airline has suspended its financial guidance for the third quarter and full year 2025, which was initially provided on July 28, 2025.
The airline expressed regret for the disruption caused to customers, stakeholders, and the communities it serves.
