Series by Marriott Expansion Planned Across Greater China

Marriott International has signed a strategic agreement with CG Hospitality Global to introduce Series by Marriott to Greater China, marking a significant step in the brand’s international expansion.

Under the agreement, Marriott and CG Hospitality Global plan to develop approximately 100 Series by Marriott hotels across Greater China over the next decade. The first four properties are expected to open by the end of 2026.

Launched globally in 2025, Series by Marriott is Marriott International’s collection brand within the select-service segment. The brand is designed to provide comfortable accommodation, practical amenities and locally inspired experiences while maintaining the character of each destination.

Yibing Mao, President, Greater China, Marriott International, said the partnership will help meet growing demand for quality accommodation options across the region while providing additional choices for Marriott Bonvoy members, hotel owners and travellers.

As part of the collaboration, selected Arro Khampa boutique resorts owned by CG Hospitality Global are expected to join the Series by Marriott portfolio. Located in Southwest China, the properties are known for their connection to local culture, architecture and regional heritage.

The first four hotels will continue to operate under their existing identities while benefiting from Marriott Bonvoy membership, Marriott’s global distribution network, and operational support.

Rahul Chaudhary, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of CG Hospitality Global, said the agreement reflects the long-term growth potential of the Chinese hospitality market and will support the expansion of locally inspired hospitality experiences across the region.

Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global have been working together since 2024 on several hospitality projects across Asia and the Middle East. Their collaboration includes developments in India, Nepal, the Philippines, Dubai and now China.

Series by Marriott operates as a soft collection brand, bringing together independent hotels with strong regional identities. The concept is aimed at travellers seeking comfortable stays, local experiences and reliable hospitality standards.

As of the first quarter of 2026, Series by Marriott had 55 operating hotels worldwide, with an additional 37 properties under development.

Gavin Yu, Chief Development Officer, Greater China, Marriott International, said the brand has been designed to support hotel conversions and provide owners with access to Marriott’s operational expertise, distribution capabilities and loyalty programme.

The expansion of Marriott International’s Series by Marriott into Greater China reflects Marriott’s continued focus on expanding its presence in key travel markets while creating opportunities for local hotel owners and regional hospitality brands.
