The work on Mumbai's newest airport, D. B. Patil International Airport, AKA Navi Mumbai International Airport, is in action in full swing. The airport is being constructed in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, and once functional, it will be the second airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, serving alongside Mumbai's existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Navi Mumbai International Airport

The airport, named after former MP Dinkar Patil, is being built by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) through a public–private partnership model on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis in three phases, where, by the end of the third phase (by 2032), it is expected to handle more than 90 million passengers and 2.5 million tonnes of cargo per annum. The airport, costing around ₹16,700 crore, saw its foundation stone laid by PM Modi on February 18, 2018, and construction beginning in August 2021. The airport is expected to be operational for the first phase by March 2025.
