With the Oberoi brand at the heart of India’s fast-growing premium travel market, the group is well-positioned for future expansion, said Executive Chairman Arjun Oberoi. This marks his first public statement since the passing of family patriarch P.R.S. Oberoi and the leadership transition to the third generation of the Oberoi family.

In a joint interaction, CEO Vikram Oberoi shared that the group’s financial performance has seen a strong upswing in recent years, with a clear strategy to expand its hotel portfolio through carefully chosen, brand-aligned properties, premium pricing, and consistently exceptional service.

For the fiscal year ending March 2025, EIH Ltd, the group’s flagship company, recorded revenues of Rs 2,880 crore, up 10% year-on-year, and net profit of Rs 770 crore, up 14%. This marks one of the strongest years in the company’s 90-year history.

Vikram Oberoi emphasised that today’s travellers are more discerning and willing to pay for the brand’s superior service.

“Our hotels consistently outperform competitors on revenue per available room (RevPAR), with higher average room rates and occupancy,” he said.

Blending legacy with ambition, The Oberoi Group accelerates growth across India and beyond, setting new benchmarks in luxury hospitality.

In most markets, Oberoi ranks first in its competitive set.

The group has signed 21 new projects in under two years—its most ambitious expansion yet—including 19 hotels, two luxury boats, and a Nile cruiser. Of these, 12 properties will be in India, with the rest in London, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bhutan, and Nepal. Sixteen will carry the Oberoi name, while five will operate under the Trident brand. About half will be owned; the rest will operate under management contracts.

Among the notable projects:

  • The first Oberoi in the UK opened in London’s Mayfair in partnership with Grosvenor.

  • Two hotels in Saudi Arabia are a growing focus for the group.

  • There are new ventures in Indonesia and Egypt, where Arjun Oberoi noted, “We should have entered earlier.”

  • In India, The Oberoi Vindhyavilas, Bandhavgarh, has already opened, and The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace is set to launch in October.

While competitors expand aggressively, Arjun Oberoi said the focus remains on upholding the brand’s standards.

“We aren’t racing others—we’re competing with our own benchmarks. Our hotels are known not just for their locations, but for the care and craftsmanship that goes into each one.”

Vikram Oberoi highlighted that India’s luxury hospitality market is still underpriced, especially compared to short-haul international destinations.

“The value we deliver far exceeds the price point,” he said.

Addressing slow foreign tourist arrivals post-COVID, he emphasized the role of the private sector in promoting India alongside the government.

“We need more ambassadors for India. The goodwill of our guests helps bring in more tourism, investment, and jobs.”

Technology is also shaping the future of the group.

“We’ve implemented generative AI at Oberoi and are expanding it to Trident hotels,” Vikram said.

“Back-office operations are increasingly automated, improving efficiency.”

Branded residences are another growth area. Arjun Oberoi noted that mixed-use developments—combining hotels and residences—are gaining traction. “There’s strong demand for branded living spaces, and we’re committed to growing this segment,” he said, reiterating that hospitality remains the group’s core focus.

The group’s values remain rooted in its legacy, shaped by founders Rai Bahadur Mohan Singh Oberoi, T.R.S. Oberoi, and P.R.S. Oberoi.

“We have a solid foundation,” Arjun said.

“This is India’s time, and we’re well-positioned to grow with it.”

While a legal dispute over P.R.S. Oberoi’s will is ongoing, Arjun declined to comment, citing sub-judice proceedings.

Today, about 50% of guests are international, with 25% from the U.S. alone. But no matter the expansion, Vikram Oberoi insists the guest remains the focus:

“That’s our DNA—something our founders instilled in us from childhood. Every guest comment mattered. That culture of care is what sets us apart and why guests continue to choose us.”
