Thai AirAsia X to Launch Direct Flights from Bangkok to Almaty, Kazakhstan
Thai AirAsia X will launch direct flights from Bangkok Don Mueang to Almaty, Kazakhstan, starting December 1, 2025. This marks the airline’s first entry into Central Asia.
The route will operate four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. It will use Airbus A330 aircraft, which have a capacity of 367 seats. To launch this service, one-way fares will start at THB 6,690. These fares will be available for booking from September 8 to September 21, 2025, for travel between December 1, 2025, and March 28, 2026. Tickets can be purchased through the AirAsia MOVE app or at airasia.com.
Pattra Boosarawongse, Chief Executive Officer of Thai AirAsia X, said: “This route represents our first step into Central Asia and an opportunity to introduce Thai travelers to a destination that offers both natural beauty and cultural depth. Expanding into new regions allows us to diversify our network and provide more travel choices.”
Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan and its former capital, blends cultural heritage with natural attractions. Notable sites include Big Almaty Lake, Charyn Canyon, Shymbulak Ski Resort, Zenkov Cathedral, and the Green Bazaar.
Thai AirAsia X currently operates direct flights from Bangkok to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Sapporo in Japan, as well as Seoul in South Korea, Delhi in India, and Shanghai in China. Almaty is its eighth destination.
