The Navi Mumbai Marriott Hotel has announced Chef Rohit Mattummal's appointment as chef de cuisine at Nazaara, the city's rooftop dining destination. Nestled atop the hotel, Nazaara provides a panoramic view of the city and surrounding hills, laying the groundwork for an open-air dining experience beneath the stars.

With a focus on Chinese, Thai, and Japanese cuisine, Chef Rohit Mattummal brings more than ten years of experience in the hospitality sector to the Navi Mumbai Marriott Hotel. He is renowned for his ability to produce outstanding meals that expertly blend classic flavours with contemporary accents. Chef Rohit started his career at Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Mandir, SPH College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology in Nashik, where he received first-class honours for his Bachelor's degree in hotel management and catering technology. His educational background provided a strong basis for an illustrious career in cooking characterized by a commitment to quality and perfection.

Chef Rohit's career path encompasses notable positions at well-known organizations. His most recent position was as Chef de Cuisine at the Kempinski, Marsa Malaz - The Pearl in Doha, Qatar, where he was responsible for managing outdoor catering for VIP events, supervising multiple culinary departments, and upholding the strictest safety and sanitary regulations. Before this, he held the position of Chef de Cuisine at the Kempinski Barbaros Bay in Bodrum, Turkey, where he oversaw the preparation and presentation of Asian-inspired cuisine, created seasonal menus, and employed economical methods.

While at The Oberoi in Bengaluru, India, Chef Rohit created menus for two new restaurants, was recognized for outstanding performance, and contributed to training for other staff members. He oversaw banquet operations for Asian cuisine at the Express Inn in Nashik, Maharashtra, India, and worked with the Executive Chef to develop the menu. His previous experience was managing large orders, supervising multiple departments, and upholding strict standards of cleanliness in a Pan-Asian speciality restaurant at The Oberoi-Trident in Mumbai, India.

Chef Rohit is renowned for his proficiency in Indian, foreign, and Southeast Asian cooking. In addition, he has a proven track record in budget management, sourcing premium products, staff training, and developing successful pre-opening plans. Chef Rohit is a multilingual specialist who can lead service teams and deliver exceptional customer service. He is fluent in Hindi, Malayalam, English, and Marathi and has some knowledge of French. By using his leadership skills and culinary knowledge, Chef Rohit hopes to improve Nazaara's standing as the best rooftop restaurant in Navi Mumbai by providing exceptional dining experiences.
