New VP of Operations and GM at Centara Karon Resort Phuket

APPOINTMENT

David Martens has been appointed by Centara Hotels & Resorts as the General Manager and Vice President of Operations at Centara Karon Resort Phuket, effective September 2024. David has been a member of the Centara family since 2012 and has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality sector. He has a deep awareness of the brand’s DNA, product offers, and dedication to quality.

Previously serving as Senior Director of Operations and General Manager of Centara Karon, David has significantly contributed to the resort’s operational success and strategic growth. His exemplary leadership was recognised in 2017 when he received the General Manager of the Year award for his outstanding performance at Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin.

Originally from Australia, David has been in Thailand for the past 12 years, fully assimilating into the local way of life and hospitality industry. He started his career in the sector at the American Hotel & Motel Association’s Educational Institute, which laid the groundwork for a career characterized by commitment and in-depth instruction in management, operations, and sales. His dedication to excellence and professional development has moulded his career path and had a big influence on the success of the Centara brand.
