La Monique Opens at Oceana Santa Monica, LXR Hotels & Resorts
Oceana Santa Monica, which is part of LXR Hotels & Resorts, has unveiled La Monique, a French brasserie, on October 11. This restaurant combines traditional French culinary techniques with Hollywood-inspired design elements and Riviera influences. It is conveniently located just steps away from the Pacific Ocean.
The project is a collaboration between JRK Property Holdings and 34th Floor, the F&B division of Schulte Hospitality Group, aiming to provide a distinctive dining option for both residents and visitors.
Designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, La Monique features jewel-tone interiors, plush seating, hand-crafted details, reflective ceilings, and a curated art collection. Signature elements include a backlit bar, sculptural glass walls, and detailed marquetry, creating an intimate and detailed setting.
Chef David Fricaud, a Top Chef France semi-finalist, leads the kitchen. The menu includes a range of French brasserie dishes, seafood towers, a dedicated steak program with A5 wagyu and dry-aged cuts, and signature dishes such as Le Grand Poulet with truffle jus. Other offerings include Linguine Vongole, Tuna Carpaccio, and Escargot Poppers.

The cocktail program reflects a Riviera-inspired approach, featuring drinks like the Miss Monique (a clarified Tito’s Cosmopolitan with cherry-nutmeg foam and rose water mist) and Message in the Bottle (coffee-infused Zacapa 23 Rum with Averna Amaro, banana liqueur, and chocolate bitters). The wine selection features French producers alongside choices from Italy, Portugal, and California.
La Monique is intended as a social dining destination, offering dinner nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations are available via OpenTable or by calling (310) 656-6000. Full buyouts and curated tasting menus are offered for private or corporate events.
