American Airlines has resumed operations at all airports in Florida and The Bahamas, except for Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), which remains closed. American tentatively plans to resume operations at SRQ on October 16, when the airport is scheduled to reopen.
Halt in Operations
American Airlines had also announced its resumed operations in parts of Florida earlier. As airports reopened, American Airlines also resumed its operations in parts of Florida impacted by Hurricane Milton. The airline’s top priority continues to be the safety and well-being of its team members and customers, and remains in contact with local, state and federal partners as they assess damage and staffing needs in the wake of the storm.

Operation Status
- Full operations resumed today at American’s MIA hub, along with Key West International Airport (EYW) and Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV).
- Operations are planned to resume Friday, Oct. 11, at Orlando International Airport (MCO), Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) and Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB), along with Marsh Harbour Airport (MHH) and Grand Bahama International Airport (FPO) in The Bahamas.
- American is assessing damage at Tampa International Airport (TPA), Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). Operations will resume when conditions permit.
For customers with travel impacted by the storm, American has extended its travel alert, which now includes five airports in the Bahamas in addition to 12 in Florida. Fares continue to be capped for direct flights departing from locations covered by the travel alert. The airline is also in contact with its non-profit partners to offer assistance as they begin to mobilize their response and relief efforts. Through Oct. 18, AAdvantage members can earn 10 miles for every dollar donated to the American Red Cross with a minimum $25 donation.
