Hotel Indigo Torquay Opens in the Heart of the English Riviera
Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has officially opened Hotel Indigo Torquay. Located in the centre of Torquay, South Devon, the new boutique property sits close to key transport links and attractions such as Torquay Museum, Kents Cavern, Princess Pier and Torre Abbey Sands. The hotel is owned by Singapore-based Fragrance Group and managed by IHG Hotels & Resorts.
Each Hotel Indigo property is designed to reflect the local neighbourhood, and Hotel Indigo Torquay draws inspiration from the town’s maritime heritage and coastal identity. The interiors feature sandy tones, artisan touches and bold colours that highlight the character of the surrounding area.
Guests can choose from 153 rooms and suites influenced by Torquay’s coastline. Each space combines comfort with modern amenities, including Nespresso machines, bathrobes, slippers and Biology bath products. Design elements such as wave patterns and blue accents mirror the nearby bays, beaches and shifting tides.
Mr. Koh Wee Meng, Chairman and CEO of Fragrance Group, said: “We are pleased to have opened our first hotel with IHG Hotels & Resorts on the English Riviera and look forward to the opportunities this partnership may bring.”
James Farley, General Manager at Hotel Indigo Torquay, commented: “We are glad to introduce the Hotel Indigo brand to Torquay, a destination known for its coastal setting and community character. The hotel blends a relaxed seaside atmosphere with a design-led approach connected to the local area. We look forward to welcoming guests and offering a stay that reflects the spirit of the English Riviera.”
Root & Reef Bistro, the hotel’s signature restaurant, highlights Torquay’s fishing and farming traditions, with dishes inspired by local produce from both land and sea. Opening in Spring 2026, The Cast rooftop bar will offer panoramic views of the bay, along with cocktails, signature drinks and small plates. The bar’s name pays tribute to Agatha Christie and her well-known literary works, while inviting guests to enjoy sweeping views across the English Riviera.

The hotel also includes a wellness suite with treatment rooms and a fitness centre overlooking the bay, designed to support guests seeking restorative experiences.

Torquay offers a coastal escape with activities such as walks through Princess Gardens, visits to Torre Abbey Sands, harbour-side strolls and rides on the English Riviera Wheel. The hotel is dog-friendly.
