The new Dusit Thani Bangkok is built on the same site as the old one. All 257 guest rooms offer views of Lumpini Park, and each room has a unique window seat.

The hotel's rebuilding approach was showcased at an exclusive media event in Bangkok. Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun, Group CEO of Dusit International, talked about the company's commitment to blending new trends with the classic style of the original Dusit Thani Bangkok, which was the tallest and grandest building in the city when it first opened in 1970.

Ms Suthumpun stated, "For over five decades, the original Dusit Thani Bangkok was a beloved landmark, representing Thai hospitality to global travellers. As we reimagined it, we were dedicated to honouring that legacy while surpassing the expectations of today's sophisticated guests. This involved preserving elements of the original hotel and seamlessly blending them with a fresh, modern design, staying true to the vision of Dusit's founder, Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, and owner, Mr. Chanin Donavanik. Sustainability remains a core focus for Dusit, and this commitment is reflected in the new hotel's design and operations. Ultimately, we aim to deliver an unparalleled guest experience while preserving the warmth and service synonymous with the Dusit Thani name."

Ms Natapa Sriyuksiri, Managing Director of Dusit Estate and Group Creative Strategy at Dusit International, explained that when designing the new Dusit Thani Bangkok, the main challenge was to preserve the warmth and character of the original hotel while giving it a fresh, modern look.

The new hotel, designed by Dragon Company Limited, pays tribute to the original hotel's unique style. Its elegant interiors, crafted by the well-known Asian interior design firm André Fu Studio, combine the rich heritage of the original hotel with modern Thai aesthetics. A unique 'Heritage Floor', designed by the Thai interior design firm P49 Deesign & Associates Co. Ltd, showcases artworks by local artists inspired by the hotel's legacy.

The reimagined Dusit Thani Bangkok celebrates its heritage through design and reintroduces the original hotel's iconic golden spire, now contained within an enormous spire. Guests can also appreciate paintings and murals from the original hotel's Benjarong Thai Restaurant, with the restaurant's main pillars carefully reinstalled in the new hotel's main lobby. Additionally, the intricate teak ceiling from the restaurant has been reassembled, giving the new hotel a touch of the past.

"By reimagining elements from the original Dusit Thani Bangkok and focusing on exquisite craftsmanship throughout the entire design process – from architecture to décor to furnishings – we've woven a connection between the hotel's past and present, creating a timeless harmony guests will experience throughout the entire new hotel," said Ms Sriyuksiri.

Dusit Hotels and Resorts worldwide are inspired by four fundamental principles: personalized and gracious service, connecting guests to the local community, offering wellness experiences beyond the spa, and promoting social, economic, and environmental sustainability. These principles have also influenced the design of the new hotel.

"Dusit Thani hotels, wherever they are in the world, are carefully designed to serve as a unique reflection of the communities they serve, creating places to see and be seen and bringing value far beyond the property's walls," said Ms Sriyuksiri. "The new Dusit Thani Bangkok is the epitome of this commitment. No inch of space has been wasted in our pursuit of hospitality excellence. With an unrivalled Thai-inspired design that becomes progressively more modern towards the building's golden spire, we've gone to great lengths to ensure the aesthetics of each area serve as the stage for lasting memories to be made. There's a genuine sense of theatre, too. Large, open windows in the ballroom and lobby connect the hotel's vibrant energy with the surrounding Lumpini Park, showcasing the stunning cityscape and the exciting events. This innovative design ensures the new Dusit Thani Bangkok stands out as a unique landmark, a true icon for a new era of Thai hospitality."
