Odisha's Air Network Set to Expand

Odisha is set to enhance its air connectivity by launching new direct flight routes linking Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar to several key cities across India, starting in the New Year 2025.

Beginning January 1, Jharsuguda will have direct flights to Hyderabad, Raipur, Lucknow, and Mumbai. Additionally, Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik Airport will start direct flight services to Indore, Dehradun, Kochi, Jaipur, and Lucknow from January 3.

These new routes are expected to significantly boost the regional economy and connectivity, making Odisha more accessible to domestic travellers and business events. The introduction of these flights aims to facilitate smoother travel for residents and foster economic interactions with these growing urban centres.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced this development via the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), describing it as a significant milestone for Odisha’s economic advancement.

Stakeholders hope that improved connectivity will attract more visitors, create job opportunities, and boost the local economy.
