With its newly renovated 19th-century architectural gem on Nice’s boardwalk, the Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel welcomes guests to dive below the waves with its unique “World of Silence” experience, leaving their scuba tanks behind. This half-day freediving lesson offers an alternative way to experience the French Riviera by escaping the noise, embracing the silence, and pushing oneself to new limits. It is led by the legendary French freediver Arthur Guérin-Boëri, also the star of the documentary Sunny Boy. Guérin-Boëri is a five-time world champion, world record holder, and legendary French freediver.

The day begins on the soft sands of Passable Beach in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, immediately to the east of the city of Nice, where breathwork and relaxation tutorials prepare divers for the underwater adventure that requires such skills as breath control, equalisation techniques and mindfulness through a method accessible to all, developed by Arthur Guerin-Boëri throughout his career as an athlete. After exploring the silent world beneath the waves under Arthur’s expert guidance, swimmers will emerge with newfound confidence and a sense of achievement.

After their water adventure, visitors can recover from the adrenaline rush by relaxing at Anantara Spa with the Oceanic Bliss Ritual. The multimodal treatment includes a tailored massage, a fragrant scrub, and a nourishing body mask prepared with a balanced combination of minerals, vitamins, and amino acids. Thalion’s sea-inspired products are used in this treatment.

“Although breath-holding is an important aspect of the experience, it’s just one element of freediving. For me, it’s mostly about connecting with the ocean’s heartbeat,” explained Arthur Guérin-Boëri. “As divers gain confidence to venture deeper and stay submerged for longer periods, they seamlessly blend into the underwater environment, creating truly magical encounters with marine life while minimising their impact.”

The ‘World of Silence’ half-day freediving adventure costs €1,400 (INR 1,29,140) per person or €1700 (INR 1,56,826) for two individuals. Group dives for up to four people are also an option. The Oceanic Bliss Spa treatment costs €220 (INR 20,295) per person. Accommodations begin at €350 (INR 32,287) per night.
