American Airlines Elects John W. Dietrich to Board of Directors

American Airlines Group Inc. has elected John W. Dietrich to its board of directors. He will serve on the Audit Committee and Finance Committee.
John W. Dietrich brings over 35 years of experience in the aviation and air cargo sectors. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at FedEx Corporation from 2023 to 2026, where he led the company’s global finance operations.
Prior to this, he spent more than two decades at Atlas Air Worldwide, where he held several senior leadership roles, including President and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and General Counsel. Earlier in his career, he worked for over a decade at United Airlines in legal roles.
Dietrich is also associated with industry and corporate boards. He currently serves as chairman of the National Defense Transportation Association and is a board member of AAR Corporation and First Horizon Corporation. His previous roles include chairman of the National Air Carrier Association and membership on the International Air Transport Association Board of Governors.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and a law degree from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
