The government of the United Arab Emirates has announced a new project that will help tourists obtain health insurance when they apply for visas.
UAE’s New Visa Benefits
The country’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has stated that the “health insurance for tourist visas is amongst its transformative projects”, reported Khaleej Times. According to the report, this new project will aid tourists in gaining health insurance as they apply for visas online. With the health insurance granted, the new project will make it easier for tourists to seek medical assistance in case of an emergency. The ICP will handle the pricing and issuance of insurance.
Many in UAE have welcomed the news with open hands as they state that the project will help give tourists a better experience in the country as well as better assistance. “Having insurance cover for all travellers is an assurance that they will be covered for their hospitalisation in case of an unexpected medical emergency. This also ensures the government and private hospitals in the country that they don’t have to foot the bill for an emergency for visitors,” said Ramzi Ghurani, managing partner, Petra Insurance Brokers, to Khaleej Times.
