According to a government official, the Tourism Minister for Goa, Rohan Khaunte, has asked Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for more direct international flights to Goa. The two ministers met in New Delhi and discussed various tourism concerns, mainly the enhanced connectivity to the area.

International Connection is Goa’s Aim

According to the report, Khaunte, in the meeting, stressed the need for increased international flights to Goa as well as the need for better connectivity with other Indian states in order to solidify its place as a premium travel destination in India as well as in the world. “A key focus of their discussion was the enhancement of international connectivity to Goa, which is essential to attract more international tourists,” the official reported.

Some of the other points of deliberation were the request to expedite the Centre’s Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive scheme for the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Goa. “The minister pointed out the need to align the Drive with an upcoming exposition in Goa, which will draw significant international attention.” The meeting allegedly ended up with Shekhawat pledging full support for Goa.
