The monsoon season is hitting Kerala at full speed, so much so that the government has closed many tourist spots and places in the state due to safety concerns. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in eight of its districts and a yellow alert in six districts. A travel ban has also been placed in various areas of Kerala.
Kerala Travel Restrictions
Before travelling to the area, know these travel restrictions:
- Munnar Road and Gap Road have been closed due to mudslides, landslips, and heavy rain
- Kolukkumalai in Idukki has banned jeep safari
- Ponmudi is closed for tourists
- Illikkal Kallu, Ilaveezhapoonchira, and Marmala waterfalls are closed
- Night travel on Erattupetta-Vagamon Road is also banned
- No entry in DTPC centres in Kozhikode
- Waterfalls in Palakkad are now restricted
- Parambikulam, Attapadi, and Nelliyampathi have prohibitions in place for entry
- All beaches in Kerala have restrictions in place
- No trekking or adventure sports are allowed in Wayanad
- Ranipuram in Kasaragod is closed
- Mahagony Thottam is closed
