The state of Gujarat has ended up becoming the not-so-expected winner of everyone’s favourite summer destination list. The proof of it is showcased in the number of visitors Gujarat witnessed during the period.

Gujarat: Our Favourite Summer Destination

According to a report by DeshGujarat, Gujarat welcomed more than 1.35 crore tourists between April 1 and June 10, 2024. The tourist numbers were recorded at the main 12 tourist attractions and pilgrimage sites in Gujarat. The current number indicates an increase of 17% from the figures of last year, which stood at 1.14 crore.

The popular destinations in Gujarat which witnessed the high influx of tourists were Statue of Unity, Atal Bridge, Riverfront-Flower Park, Kankaria Lake, Somnath Temple, Ambaji Temple, Pavagadh Temple, Science City, Dwarika Temple, Ahmedabad, Vadnagar, Gir and Devalia Safari.

Ahmedabad emerged as the top tourist destination in Gujarat for the period. The city was also the number one district on the destination list for 2023-24, welcoming around 426.96 lakh tourists, and Ahmedabad City witnessed around 225.8 lakh tourists.

Around ₹2077 crore was allocated to developing tourist destinations in Gujarat for the year 2024-25 in order to attract more tourists to the area. Several other measures, such as connectivity, accessibility, better transportation, hotels, restaurants, etc., have also been taken in the state to make it more tourist-friendly.
