According to the government, Uttar Pradesh aims to drastically increase its tourist numbers in the coming years. To achieve that, it is revamping its facilities to appeal to the masses.

The Uttar Pradesh government aims to increase the number of tourists in the state by fivefold in the coming four years. To make this plan of ₹70,000 crore GVA and 80 crore tourists a reality, the government is revitalising its tourist places. A government spokesperson stated that the state's transport infrastructure will also be further improved.

Five Times the Growth for UP

The government has been working on improving its transportation sector in the last few years, and various visible results of the same have been witnessed, leading to a footfall of more than 48 crore in Uttar Pradesh last year. Now the government wants to increase the number by five times, targeting a Gross Value Added (GVA) of ₹70,000 crore by 2028. The government also wants to increase its tourist footfall to more than 80 crore visitors.

Religious tourism is one of Uttar Pradesh's main attractions, with various spiritual places like Kashi, Ayodhya, Mathura, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Naimisharanya, Gorakhpur, etc. These places alone attract millions of visitors daily. To further attract more guests, the government is enhancing the facilities available at major tourist cities in the state with better hotels, guest houses, homestays, transportation, etc.
