BigPay Partners with BEM to Launch ‘Tap and Pay’ Campaign on MRT Blue Line

BigPay Thailand, a digital financial platform under Capital A, has partnered with Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) to introduce the “Tap and Pay” campaign on the MRT Blue Line. The collaboration aims to meet the daily travel needs of urban commuters by offering a fast, convenient, and rewarding way to pay.

Passengers can now tap to pay using BigPay’s contactless card, receiving monthly benefits such as cashback, AirAsia points, and a chance to win free airline tickets.

Why BigPay Designed This Campaign

BigPay’s campaign is based on an in-depth look at urban travel and spending behaviours:

  1. Most city commuters travel by train 2–4 times daily.

  2. Peak hours are 7:00–9:00 AM and 5:00–7:00 PM.

  3. The majority of riders are between 25 and 44 years old, particularly professionals.

  4. Stations like Sukhumvit, Silom, and Phahon Yothin see the highest spend.

  5. Metro Mall is popular for shopping during lunch and in the evening.

  6. “Tap and go” is replacing queue-based payment habits.

  7. 85% of Bangkokians prefer using phones or contactless cards over cash.

  8. Convenience strongly influences transport choices.

  9. People favour apps that offer cashback or reward points.

  10. Fridays show the highest weekly spending.

  11. Newer generations seek “value-back” features, such as cashback or loyalty points.

  12. 62% of users prefer financial apps with reward features.

  13. Cashless travel payments have grown by over 40%.

  14. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, people have increasingly preferred touchless payment options.

  15. Bangkokians increasingly choose brands that align with their lifestyle.

What the Leaders Said

Ms. Apirdee Prachayaset, Country Head and Managing Director of BigPay Thailand:
“This partnership goes beyond payment—it enhances daily travel through added benefits and ease of use. Our goal is to make travel more convenient and rewarding.”

Ms. Thepnaree Setthaseri, Assistant Managing Director at BEM:

“This collaboration expands contactless payment options on the MRT and supports the preferences of today’s commuters. It adds value and fits the needs of those who prioritise both time and benefits.”
