American Airlines Leads $2 Million Hurricane Relief Campaign

American Airlines AAdvantage members have donated over $2 million to support the American Red Cross disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation. The funds will provide critical aid to affected communities, helping families rebuild and recover from the destruction. The need for support remains urgent. Until October 18, 2024, AAdvantage members can earn 10 AAdvantage bonus miles for every dollar donated to the Red Cross with a minimum $25 donation.

In response to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, American Airlines is donating 10 million AAdvantage miles to Airlink. This nonprofit humanitarian organization brings critical aid to communities in crisis. These miles will help Airlink connect emergency responders and relief workers to urgent needs.

“We are proud to join forces with Airlink and the Red Cross to deliver critical aid to those affected by Hurricane Helene,” said Ron DeFeo, American’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. “At American Airlines, it is our purpose to care for people on life’s journey, and we are committed to helping communities in times of need.”

Earlier this year, the American Red Cross named American Airlines a Mission Leader. This means they are part of an elite group of generous donors who give more than $3 million annually to help alleviate suffering during emergencies. Additionally, American Airlines has been a member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program since 2014. This program consists of forward-thinking donors who provide support in advance of disasters.
