In order to encourage practical knowledge in the field, the Airports Authority of India has launched its very own internship programme named Pradipti.
The programme was launched at a formal event organised at the Indian Aviation Academy in the capital which saw Sanjeev Kumar, AAI Chairman, in attendance along with various other board members. As pointed out in the event, the internship programme has been designed to “facilitate the learning of practical aspects of airport infrastructure, operations, and air navigation services, and generate interest in civil aviation amongst youth by reaching out to educational institutions.” To the signed-up students, the programme will offer three different levels of internships, ranging from small-duration visits to long-duration internships. Accordingly, the duration of the internship will be decided, which can vary from four weeks to twenty weeks.
“The programme has been designed to give students first-hand experience of the functioning of the airports in particular and the aviation industry at large, apart from igniting passion in them for furthering their interests. The idea behind this initiative is to bring students from institutes to explore their field of interest, providing them with industry experience through participation in project implementation at airports,” Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, Airports Authority of India, stated. Furthermore, Dr H. Srinivas of AAI highlighted the benefits of the programme during his address, emphasising how the internship will not only familiarise the students with how an airport operates but will also “spark passion for further exploration within the aviation industry.”
To kickstart the programme, Airports Authority of India prepared an MoU which was unveiled at the event. This MoU will now be signed between AAI and educational institutions that wish to enroll their students in the internship programme. So far, more than 120 institutions have signed the MoU.
