IHG Opens InterContinental Hotel in Manchester

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of the InterContinental Manchester—Deansgate, the fifth InterContinental property in its portfolio in the UK and Ireland. Owned by Blue Manchester Hotel Limited, the hotel features 264 rooms and is expected to be fully rebranded by 2027 while remaining open to guests throughout the process.
InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate will further strengthen IHG’s position as the largest global hotel company in the UK and Ireland, where it currently operates 363 hotels and has 33 more in development. This new hotel will also enhance IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the region, contributing to its existing 27 open hotels. This includes four InterContinental properties: InterContinental London – The O2, InterContinental London Park Lane, InterContinental Edinburgh The George, and InterContinental Dublin.
Located in the heart of Manchester on one of the city’s most historic streets, the hotel offers guests several restaurants, retail outlets, and nightlife. For business travellers visiting the city, the hotel is close to Manchester’s main conference centre and Spinningfields, Manchester’s premier financial and professional services district.
The hotel is part of the 47-storey Beetham Tower, one of the tallest buildings outside of London. Occupying 22 floors, the InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate will offer a range of luxury amenities designed for both leisure and business guests. After a comprehensive refurbishment, the hotel will feature 264 guest rooms, each providing uninterrupted views of the Manchester skyline. Amenities will include a spacious ground-floor bar and restaurant, an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and fitness centre. Additionally, the InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate will have 18 meeting rooms, offering a total event space of 1,821 square feet, suitable for social events and MICE opportunities.

This remarkable collection boasts over 105 hotels that are already open and an impressive 72 more in various stages of development across Europe.
As part of this group, the Manchester hotel will join a curated selection of 34 InterContinental properties situated throughout Europe, including the elegant and recently inaugurated InterContinental Chantilly Chateau Mont Royal. Furthermore, the collection is expanding with nine exciting properties in the pipeline, one of which is the InterContinental Belgrade. This particular hotel will signify the brand’s triumphant return to Serbia after a notable absence of 20 years, reinforcing InterContinental’s commitment to offering exceptional hospitality in key destinations.
