Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Hosts Third Olive Harvest Festival

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort has announced the return of the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Olive Harvest Festival, scheduled to take place from September 26 to 28, 2024. The festival will feature storytelling, olive oil pressing, competitions, kids' activities, and culinary demonstrations led by renowned chefs Martin Aristondo and Riccardo Passoni, all celebrating the region's abundant olive harvest.

Situated on Green Mountain, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort enjoys a Mediterranean-style climate uncommon in Oman and the Middle East. This climate enables the growth of a diverse range of fruits and vegetables. The environment fosters the growth of olives, leading to a flourishing local olive oil industry. Local farmers started cultivating the crop after the previous King of Spain presented olives as a gift during a visit to the country.

The annual festival celebrates olives with events highlighting the quality and variety of olives in the area. Guests can participate in olive harvesting, visit a local factory to see the olive oil production process, and listen to stories about olive farming from the Local Guru. These experiences provide a glimpse into the heritage and craftsmanship of this cherished tradition in Al Jabal Al Akhdar.

Food lovers can enjoy live cooking demonstrations with Chefs Martin Aristondo and Riccardo Passoni, showcasing their skills using freshly harvested olives. Chef Aristondo, visiting from NH Collection San Sebastian Aranzazu in his hometown, is known for his innovative take on traditional Basque cuisine. He will present a three-course set menu at Al Qalaa. Chef Passoni, the Executive Chef at NH Collection Milano President, will bring his refined Italian expertise to the award-winning Bella Vista Restaurant. Their demonstrations will highlight the versatility and richness of olives, turning this humble ingredient into gourmet masterpieces.

Jorge Marcelo Robles, a well-known Italian expert in olive oil production, will visit the mountain resort. Mr. Robles will discuss the long-standing traditions of making Italian extra virgin olive oil and advise on maintaining its high quality. To celebrate the season with an Italian touch, Bella Vista will include his excellent olive oil in a special set menu created by Chef Passoni. This will give guests a special Italian culinary experience with authentic Italian flavours.
