Telluride is well-known for its outdoor adventures and is considered one of the most desirable mountain towns in the Colorado Rockies. As a National Historic Landmark District, this former mining town is very charming. It hosts various events like film festivals, jazz and blues festivals, and arts and community events. Six Senses Telluride is in Mountain Village, just above the city, surrounded by the 14,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains. The area is perfect for vacationers because it's easy to access a vast ski domain in the winter and a natural playground in the spring and summer, adorned with beautiful wildflowers.

Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses, said, “Becoming an active part of the community is hugely important to us, and so where better to begin our North American mountain adventure than Telluride, with the global sophistication of Mountain Village and eclectic old-world nature of the town below. Having lived in the Colorado Rockies in the 1980s, I can attest to the mountain environment lending itself to expressing our values around wellness and sustainable development today.”

The development team, led by Matthew Shear and David Jaskel at The Vault Home Collection, has collaborated closely with Six Senses to introduce a unique outdoor and wellness-focused hospitality and residential experience to the Telluride region.

Matthew commented on the partnership, “We are delighted to join forces with Six Senses. The spectacular Colorado landscape, sublime snow conditions, and quaint community feel of Mountain Village inspired us to lay roots here. This project is the culmination of our ongoing collaboration with Six Senses to open this premier mountain destination to the world’s most discerning travellers and residents. Our shared vision is to ensure Six Senses Telluride is nothing short of spectacular.”

Elemental inspiration

Each season brings its own special views, activities, and experiences that influence the resort’s overall design. The architectural team at Vault Design leads the master plan, ensuring that guest rooms, family rooms, and suites are visually cohesive. The exteriors are designed to align with the town's standards, using natural materials with local and historical significance, such as cedar siding and local stone. The interiors are crafted by Rose Ink Workshop, employing a warm and light colour scheme to honour the purity of the natural elements.

The 24 branded residences will range from two to five bedrooms, and some will feature a den. On days when the mountains don’t call, a gym, cinema, lounge, and games room will provide homegrown entertainment.

From first lifts to last orders

During winter, the ski concierge services will make sure that guests and residents are the first on the slopes without needing to lift a ski or buckle a boot. The team will also be available to arrange a variety of experiences. When the snow melts, the on-site Experiences Team will share insider tips for hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, and destination dining.
