ASMR Magic at Holiday Inn
Nearly a third (29%) of British people feel the moon's phases impact their sleep quality, according to a new study commissioned by Holiday Inn Express on November 15th, the last supermoon of 2024. Another 62% of British people feel less happy and energized after a bad night's sleep.
Professor Green, a musician and mental wellness advocate, has teamed up with Holiday Inn Express hotels to create Professor Green's Restful Rhythms after more than half (53%) of British people already use ASMR's calming, repeating sounds to help them relax. Just in time for the Supermoon on November 15, the soothing playlist is now accessible for streaming worldwide.
John Wright, Vice President of Mainstream Brands, EMEAA, commented: “At Holiday Inn Express hotels, we want our guests to have a great overnight recharge whenever they stay. With quality bedding, a choice of firm or soft pillows, blackout blinds, power showers and a hot breakfast – Holiday Inn Express helps guests wake up ready for the day. This new collaboration with Professor Green and Dr Faye Begeti to launch the ASMR playlist ‘Restful Rhythms' is perfect as it offers another way for guests to get a great night’s sleep.”
Professor Green's Restful Rhythms aims to scientifically support a restful night's sleep in partnership with neuroscientist and sleep specialist Dr Faye Begeti, MB PhD. The playlist comprises five tracks highlighting the typical noises of a Holiday Inn Express hotel, like the ruffle of beds, the drip of coffee, and sizzling bacon. It blends ASMR with binaural beats. Professor Green also adds calming remarks to each track to promote a healing evening recorded at a Holiday Inn Express hotel. Tracks include:
- Grateful: The city's sounds fade away as the Holiday Inn Express hotel doors close behind. The distant hum of voices and quiet footsteps, as well as the gentle click of a keycard, reminisce on the serenity of the day.
- Back Where It All Began: Crackling bacon, an electric toothbrush, and fresh coffee reminds us of a soothing morning scene.
- All In Good Time: The soft jingle of cutlery, the gentle rolls of a suitcase over the carpet and the dull murmur of the microwave take us back to sweet midday moments.
- Weaving Dreams: The simple sounds of making a cuppa and curtains closing to recall a peaceful early evening.
- The Silence Between: The sweet flick of a light switch and faint rumble of distant streets, the gentle whir of an air conditioner, and the guiding beats of Professor Green’s breathing set the stage for late night hours, and a deep sleep.
“As a musician and father, I know how challenging it can be to get a good night’s sleep and how much it affects the following day,” said Stephen Manderson (Professor Green).
“Especially when I’m on tour, music and a comfortable hotel bed are essential so I can relax and unwind at night. That’s why I couldn’t be more excited to create this playlist and bring it to people nationwide, helping them to get a better sleep this supermoon and beyond.”
According to the report, 88 percent of individuals use electronic devices within an hour or less before bed, while 39 percent of British people require between 31 and two hours to wind down before bed.
“Sleep is crucial for our mental and physical well-being,” said Dr Faye Begeti, MB PhD.
“This new soundtrack by Professor Green and Holiday Inn Express hotels takes familiar sounds and turns them into ASMR auditory stimuli. Research shows that ASMR activates regions in the brain linked to relaxation and pleasure, helping to lower heart rate and ease the body into a restful state. Binaural beats have been added to gently guide the brain into specific relaxation states, promoting calm and reducing anxiety.
Blending these techniques and their brain-friendly benefits has the potential to provide a powerful relaxation tool. When used consistently as part of an evening routine, this new soundtrack can help the brain unwind, improving sleep quality and duration. Developing familiarity with these sounds at home can be precious while travelling as it will reinforce comfort and relaxation, supporting restful sleep wherever you are.”
