Hilton's Entry into French Market

Hilton has announced the signing of four new hotels in Lyon, France, through franchise agreements with Arteloge. These signings mark the introduction of the Spark by Hilton premium economy brand in France and the second DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Lyon.

The Spark by Hilton Lyon Ouest and Spark by Hilton Lyon Parc Saône is set to open in late 2025, while Spark by Hilton Lyon Eurexpo is scheduled to join Hilton's portfolio in the summer of 2026. Additionally, DoubleTree by Hilton Lyon Plage is expected to welcome guests in 2028. These four hotels will offer a combined 655 rooms.

The launch of Spark by Hilton in Lyon marks a milestone for the premium economy sector in France. The two hotels, Spark by Hilton Lyon Ouest, with 102 rooms, and Spark by Hilton Lyon Park Saône, with 100 rooms, will be located in the 9th arrondissement, near the business district and along the banks of the Saône River.

Spark by Hilton Lyon Eurexpo will be near the Eurexpo exhibition and conveniently located near Lyon airports and motorways.  

All three properties will deliver reliable, friendly essentials and feature Spark’s signature amenities, including: 

  • Guest rooms with amenities, including furniture, an open closet, a multi-purpose work surface and a bathroom.
  • Bright public spaces provide multi-functional seating, from communal tables to rocking chairs, offering plenty of comfortable options for guests to socialise or work.
  • A signature Hydration Cart featuring complimentary still and sparkling water and fresh fruit.
  • A 24-hour retail market, where on-the-go travellers can purchase food, drinks and other essentials around the clock.
  • Simple, inspired design with splashes of colour, exterior statement walls and artwork.

The brand offers good value for guests and a strong opportunity for owners and operators. It is a cost-effective option for converting existing properties by rethinking the premium economy segment. The focus is on improving the guest experience and ensuring that every hotel has a consistent look and feel.

DoubleTree by Hilton Lyon Plage  

Scheduled to open in 2028 after a complete renovation, Lyon’s second DoubleTree by Hilton hotel will feature 118 guest rooms, along with 56 extended-stay accommodations. Guests can look forward to a variety of amenities, including a restaurant, a bar, and 12 conference rooms, making it a perfect choice for both leisure and business travellers. The hotel is conveniently situated near key transport links, catering to diverse travel needs. Located along the banks of the Saône River, it is adjacent to one of the largest spa facilities in France, which offers an extensive range of wellness services. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with DoubleTree by Hilton’s signature warm chocolate chip cookie, setting the tone for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
