The situation on a United Airlines flight on Sunday, travelling from Houston to Boston, grew so severe that the plane had to be diverted to Washington even before reaching its destination. According to the people on the plane, the whole situation arose from a passenger experiencing a medical issue that soon turned into a ‘biohazard’.
Biohazard Served in Flight
The airplane, a Boeing 737-800, was carrying 155 passengers and 6 crew members. It departed from Houston, USA, around 9:30 AM, but instead of landing in Boston, as it was supposed to, the plane was diverted to the Dulles International Airport in Washington around 1:30 PM, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The reason for the diversion was a “medical emergency.”
The audio captured from the flight showcases that a passenger was facing a medical issue that soon turned into a biohazard for everyone around them. The situation grew out of control too quickly and even before the crew could help, they themselves started becoming ill due to the severe odour from the incident. The crew members and various passengers started vomiting and asking for masks, feeling queasy from the smell. Ultimately, the doctor on board stated that the situation had turned into a biohazard, asking the pilots to land as soon as possible.
The plane made an emergency landing at Dulles International Airport in Washington, where it underwent a “deep clean” for “several hours before departing for Boston, reaching its destination over five hours late,” according to the airline's social media updates. According to the airline, all passengers were taken care of and the situation was soon under control after landing.
