Celebrating ITA Airways' Nonstop Rome-Bangkok Flight
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed ITA Airways’ inaugural flight from Rome to Bangkok. This new direct route strengthens travel connections and promotes closer tourism and business ties between Thailand and Italy. It offers Italian travellers more accessible access to Thailand’s famous attractions and culture.
The first ITA Airways Flight AZ0758, an Airbus A330-900neo with a seating capacity 291, arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport from Rome. It carried over 300 passengers and crew, including ITA Airways executives and notable Italian travel industry leaders.

TAT will unveil its upcoming strategic partnership with ITA Airways at a Press Conference and Networking Dinner at Capella Bangkok. The event will showcase the collaboration’s potential to enhance bilateral travel and economic engagement. Operating with five weekly flights, ITA Airways’ new route connects Italy and Thailand as part of the airline’s expanding intercontinental network. It is anticipated to be a highlight of the 2024/2025 Winter season. Flights from Rome to Bangkok depart every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 15:15 (local time) and arrive the following morning at 07:40. Return services depart Bangkok on the same day at 12:15 and arrive in Rome at 19:00.
Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and CEO of Volare commented, “Our new Rome-Bangkok route is a significant addition to ITA Airways’ intercontinental network, facilitating access to one of the world’s top tourism capitals and a dynamic business hub. This service opens doors for Italian leisure and business travellers to Thailand’s celebrated destinations and reinforces our commitment to offering optimal travel solutions in this key market.”
This new ITA Airways route joins a strong lineup of flights to Thailand for the 2024/2025 Winter season, highlighting the country’s appeal as a premier destination for global travellers. With expanding connectivity, Thailand is ready to welcome visitors to its rich culture, natural beauty, and renowned hospitality. From January to 14 November 2024, Thailand welcomed 209,666 Italian tourists, representing a 40.3% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Most of these visitors were repeat travellers, comprising Free Independent Travellers (FITs) and families on vacation. The average spending per trip was approximately 59,561 Baht. Looking ahead to 2025, TAT plans to collaborate with critical European tourism partners, including airlines and tour operators, during peak travel seasons to further reinforce Thailand’s position as a world-class destination.
