Beginning next month, Air India is all set to launch premium economy class on select domestic routes. Currently, Vistara is the only Indian airline to offer premium economy services on domestic flights. Air India’s Chief Executive Director and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said, “The launch of a three-class cabin in Air India’s narrow-body fleet and initiation of interior renovations are major steps taken for enhancing the travel experience.”
The airline will offer premium economy seats on Delhi Chandigarh-Delhi and Delhi Bengaluru-Delhi routes for now.

Air India has renovated two new A320 neo aircraft which will consist of 24 seats with extra legroom in the premium economy section, 132 seats in the economy section, and eight seats in business class. Now the airline will offer more seat options to passengers based on three classes.
The new business cabins will include forty-inch seats which will have a 7-inch recline, with a backrest, footrest, armrest, a push button for tray table, and a multiple pin entry device holder (PED) which can be extended as per usage. On the other hand, all new premium economy sections will have larger seats of 32 inches and will include four headrests, seats will have a 4-inch recline, USB charging port, and a PED holder, Air India mentioned in a statement.
The latest upgrade on the narrow-body fleet will be available for the flyers on the A350 fleet and the new B777s. Passengers can enjoy the feel of an enhanced wide-body experience on domestic as well as on short-distance international flights, Wilson added.
The planning of a three-class configuration by the airline will be implemented on all the narrow fleets within the time frame of two years. Currently, the existing aircraft are being renovated by Air India. All the new refitted aircraft will join the fleet and provide a brand-new experience for its passengers.
