This collaboration features Executive Chef Natruthai Petsuwan and Chef Pongsakorn Jiarasatit from the Michelin-Plated Jia Tong Heng. The afternoon tea is available daily from June 1 to October 31, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at The Verandah at 1921 House.

Afternoon tea at Anantara Chiang Mai is served on the verandah of the former British Consulate, with a view of the Mae Ping River. This experience has been a cherished tradition. Each season, the tea offerings change, bringing new tropical flavours and local inspirations, along with a unique Teochew twist.

This summer, Whispers of the East honours the Chinese culinary tradition in Chiang Mai. Chef Pongsakorn from Jia Tong Heng, a well-known Chinese restaurant in the city, teams up with Chef Natruthai. Together, they will update family recipes to create a special tea-time experience.

Jia Tong Heng is one of the oldest and most loved Chinese restaurants in Chiang Mai. It is famous for being a place for celebrations. For nearly 70 years, it has moved from Nawarat Market to its main location in Si Don Chai, and it also has newer branches in Fa Ham, Nimman, and Mae Rim. The restaurant is a key part of the Chiang Mai community, representing family meals, festive gatherings, and multi-generational celebrations.
In a unique collaboration, the family’s loved recipes have been turned into an afternoon tea with a modern Teochew twist. Guests can enjoy savoury dim sum items, such as steamed buns with slow-cooked Moo Hong pork, as well as traditional sweets like ow nee pae kuay cake from Chef Pongsakorn’s grandmother’s original recipe and a standout Chinese red date Mont Blanc. They will also serve classic scones with clotted cream and preserves, along with homemade tropical gelato and sorbet, adding a refreshing touch to the resort’s afternoon tea experience.

Served on vintage blue-and-white porcelain designated for special occasions, each bite is carefully paired with fine teas and coffees. The beverage selections feature sustainably sourced blends from TWG and the local Chiang Mai roaster, Monsoon Tea, including favourites like Tha Pae Gate and Mountain Breeze Oolong.

“Anantara takes great pride in celebrating each destination’s cultural richness, especially through cuisine,” says Executive Chef Natruthai Petsuwan.

“Jia Tong Heng is just down the road, and it’s an honour to collaborate with such a local institution to craft something truly meaningful.”

“As a proud ambassador of Sino-Thai cuisine, it’s a privilege to reinterpret my ancestors’ recipes for Anantara’s guests,” adds Chef Pongsakorn Jiarasatit. “It’s a collaboration close to the heart — and hopefully the first of many.”

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort offers an Afternoon Tea experience daily from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The Verandah at 1921 House. The prices are as follows:
