India & Cambodia – Just One Flight Away From Each Other
Making true on its promise, the first-ever direct flight between India and Cambodia has been launched. The flight was inaugurated by Neth Savoeun (deputy PM, Cambodia) and Devyani Khobragade (Indian ambassador to Cambodia). The flight, launched on June 16, 2024, connected Phnom Penh and New Delhi.
Cambodia Angkor Air, Cambodia’s main carrier, will operate the flight four times a week between the two capitals. According to MakeMyTrip, a ticket from New Delhi to Phnom Penh in June through Cambodia Angkor Air will cost around ₹32,737.
The move, hailed as a “historic moment” by the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh, will strengthen the relationship and connectivity between the two countries. According to a statement by Angkor Air, the route will make the UNESCO-listed world heritage site more accessible to Indian tourists and grant Cambodian patients better access to medical treatments in India. “With both nations’ rich histories and mutual interests, Cambodia Angkor Air is optimistic about the potential and positive impact of this new service,” the statement mentioned.
