Thailand Welcomes Condor Flight Resumption
According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), leading German leisure airline Condor has resumed flights to the country, operating three weekly flights to Phuket and four weekly flights from Frankfurt.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said, “The resumption of Condor’s Frankfurt-Bangkok and Frankfurt-Phuket routes is a welcome sign for Thailand. We look forward to welcoming more holidaymakers from Germany to immerse in unique travel experiences in destinations up and down the kingdom.”
Condor's Frankfurt-Bangkok flight (DE2362) resumed at TAT and landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport with a customary Thai welcome ceremony. The inaugural flight was greeted by a delegation of senior tourism and business executives (AY155). The TAT Governor, Mrs. Chiravadee Khunsub, TAT Executive Director for the Americas Region, Mr. Watcharayu Kuawong, Director of TAT Frankfurt Office, and Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing—Europe, the Americas, Middle East, and Africa were among them.
In the meantime, Sunday morning saw the first-ever Frankfurt-Phuket flight (DE2368) touch down at Phuket International Airport in preparation for a unique welcome ceremony. For its flights to Thailand, Condor is using an Airbus A330neo. Three classes comprise the aircraft's seating arrangement, which includes 30 seats in Business, 64 seats in Premium Economy, and 216 seats in Economy.
With the advent of Condor's flights, Thai Airways International and Lufthansa are the only airlines operating daily flights between Thailand and Germany. Their routes are Bangkok-Frankfurt and Bangkok-Munich.
Based on TAT’s data, forward bookings from the German market for the October – December 2024 period, as of August 2024, have increased by 22 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Long weekend holidays and the upcoming New Year’s 2025 Countdown contributed to this favourable performance.
Approximately 729,163 German tourists, or 87 percent of the total number of visitors to Thailand in 2019, took place before the epidemic. 43.18 billion Baht was the total revenue generated by the market, an 83 percent increase. Thailand is projected to earn over 65 billion Baht from roughly 979,000 German visitors in 2024, which would be a full recovery to pre-pandemic levels.
