Air India Wi-Fi Reaches 1 Million Users

Air India Inflight Wi-Fi Connects Over 1 Million Passengers

Air India has announced that more than one million passengers have used its inflight Wi-Fi service between June 2025 and June 2026, reflecting growing demand for onboard internet connectivity across its network.

Currently available on more than 55 daily flights, the service allows passengers to stay connected during their journey for browsing, messaging, email and social media access.

Growing Use of Inflight Wi-Fi

According to Air India, the proportion of passengers using onboard Wi-Fi increased from 30% in June 2025 to 55% in June 2026, showing a steady rise in the adoption of the service.

The airline currently offers Wi-Fi on 28 aircraft, operating international flights to destinations including:

  • London
  • New York
  • Newark
  • Frankfurt
  • Melbourne
  • Hong Kong
  • Singapore
  • Bali
  • Mauritius

Air India plans to expand Wi-Fi availability to additional aircraft and destinations over time.

Passenger Usage Trends

Data collected during the year shows that 89% of connected passengers used the service primarily to access social media and stream content.

The remaining 11% used the connection for:

  • Web browsing
  • Email
  • Messaging applications

During the period, passengers consumed nearly 500 terabytes of data.

Of the total data used:

  • 86% was attributed to streaming services
  • 14% was used for web browsing and other online activities

Expanding Digital Connectivity

Air India said the continued expansion of its connected fleet will provide more passengers with access to onboard internet services, allowing travellers to stay connected throughout their journeys to destinations across its international network.

The airline expects onboard digital services to continue expanding as additional Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft enter service.
