Safety Focus: Kenya Airways Applies IATA’s I-ASC Light for Safer Skies
Kenya Airways has become the first airline to use IATA’s new I-ASC Light (Aviation Safety Culture Survey) tool to assess and improve its safety culture.
I-ASC Light is an automated survey that evaluates nine key areas of safety culture. It provides detailed results by department and organizational level, along with expert analysis to guide improvements.
The airline shared its survey results during World Safety Day in April. Kenya Airways’ senior management also signed personal safety charters, reinforcing their commitment to the IATA Safety Leadership Charter, which it joined in 2024 alongside 150 other airlines.

Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka said the tool helped identify clear areas for improvement and supported the airline’s focus on continuous safety enhancement.
IATA noted that Kenya Airways’ use of I-ASC Light shows its commitment to building a strong safety culture and setting an example for others.
