Delta Upgrades Lagos–U.S. Travel with New Lounge and Latest Aircraft

Delta Air Lines is enhancing its services between Nigeria and the U.S. with new upgrades, reinforcing its long-term presence in the region.

Starting July 1, Delta customers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos can use a newly renovated premium lounge. The space features Nigerian-inspired design, high-speed Wi-Fi, quiet areas, and premium refreshments. It is available to Delta One customers and select business travellers.

In October, Delta will introduce its newest aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, on the Lagos–Atlanta route. From December 2 to January 16, the Airbus A330-900neo will serve the Lagos–New York (JFK) route during the busy holiday season.

Delta says these changes focus on improving comfort and efficiency for travellers.

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, said, “With the new lounge and advanced aircraft, we’re committed to improving the travel experience for Nigerian customers.”

New Aircraft Features

The Airbus A350-900 will replace the A330-200 on the Atlanta route, offering 35% more seat capacity, quieter cabins, improved fuel efficiency, and a better in-flight experience.

The A330-900neo, serving the New York route, features enhanced cabin pressure, better humidity, and improved noise control for more comfortable long-haul flights.

Both aircraft will include:

  • Delta One Suites with lie-flat seats, sliding doors, and luxury amenities

  • Delta Premium Select with more space and enhanced dining

  • Delta Main Cabin with personal entertainment and more room

All cabins offer upgraded air filtration and quiet environments.

More Comfort on Board

By April 2025, all passengers on Delta’s transatlantic flights to West Africa and Europe will have access to free Wi-Fi through Delta Sync, provided by T-Mobile.

Delta also continues its partnership with Missoni, introducing a new Delta One collection this year. It includes bedding, amenity kits, socks, slippers, and memory foam pillows specifically designed for a better rest on flights exceeding 12 hours.

Delta says these investments aim to provide a smoother, more comfortable journey for Nigerian travellers across every step of their trip.
