InterContinental Brisbane Officially Opens, Marking the Brand’s Entry Into the City
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has officially opened its first property in Brisbane.
Located on Elizabeth Street within Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall precinct, the 319-room hotel introduces new guest experiences focused on cultural connection and personalised service.
The hotel is set to begin a two-year renovation in 2026. The project will enhance guest offerings while preserving the building’s original design by architect Harry Seidler. The redevelopment also forms part of ISPT’s broader plan to revitalise the Elizabeth Street area into a destination for tourism, dining, and entertainment.
InterContinental Brisbane spans 25 floors and features rooms and suites with city views, 19 meeting spaces—including one of the largest ballrooms in Brisbane—an outdoor lap pool, a gym, and Latitude 27 Bar & Kitchen, which serves as an all-day dining and bar venue.
Located on the 25th floor, Club InterContinental offers guests river views and additional benefits, including private check-in, breakfast, and evening drinks.

General Manager Shaun Parsons commented,
“We’re pleased to be part of Brisbane’s growth and to contribute to the city’s tourism and hospitality landscape as it prepares for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
The opening of InterContinental Brisbane expands the brand’s presence in Queensland, joining InterContinental Hayman Island and InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast.
Rooms start from AUD $319 per night, with bookings available via the IHG website.
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 69 hotels in Australasia under nine brands, with 26 more in the pipeline.
