Swiss Airlines Introduces Its Own Signature Cocktail

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is bringing its first-ever own-creation cocktail aboard. From July onwards, First and Business Class travelers on SWISS long-haul flights will be able to enjoy the exclusive ‘SWISS Alpine Essence’. The new signature cocktail has been developed by the airline in collaboration with top bartender and gastro entrepreneur Sarah Madritsch, who has garnered various awards including ‘Barkeeper of the Year’ on the Swiss bar scene and served until recently as the manager at Zurich’s reputed IGNIV by Andreas Caminada Bar, which is famed for its innovative drinks creations.

The new SWISS signature cocktail blends dry white vermouth and elderflower syrup with refreshing crème de menthe, white crème de cacao, and citrus and herbal notes. The resulting concoction is akin to a light and floral variant of the White Negroni, and is perfectly suited for either an aperitif or a meal accompaniment.

“We wanted to offer SWISS travelers a genuine taste experience that combines lightness with all the freshness of the Alps – just as can be sensed and felt outdoors in Switzerland’s natural landscape,” explains Sarah Madritsch, the unique new cocktail’s creator. “I’m proud of the result. And it’s very special to know that our creation will soon be flying as the first-ever SWISS cocktail all over the globe.”

Heike Birlenbach

“With our new ‘SWISS Alpine Essence’ we’re bringing our first-ever signature cocktail aboard,” adds SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Heike Birlenbach. “It’s another key element in the various initiatives that we’re taking this year to further refine our guests’ air travel experience – all of which are hallmarked by strong Swiss credentials and a keen devotion to detail.”

The ‘SWISS Alpine Essence’ will be offered in First and Business Class on SWISS long-haul flights from July onwards. SWISS First travelers can further select it as their pre-departure welcome drink. The new signature cocktail should also be added to the ‘SWISS Saveurs’ inflight food and beverage range later this year (provisionally in September), to enable Economy Class travelers to enjoy this exclusive SWISS creation, too, on short- and medium-haul flights.
