Rome to Host WTTC’s 25th Global Summit in September
This September, Rome will host the 25th World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, a key event for the global tourism industry.
Taking place from 28–30 September at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, the summit will bring together tourism leaders from around the world, including government officials, business executives, and industry experts. Discussions will focus on the role of tourism in job creation, economic growth, and international collaboration.
The event is organised with support from the Italian Ministry of Tourism, ENIT (the Italian national tourism board), the Municipality of Rome, and the Lazio Region.

WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson said, “Rome is an ideal location for this summit. Italy’s culture, heritage, and tourism strength make it the perfect place for global leaders to meet, share ideas, and plan for future growth.”
Key Themes and Activities
The summit will explore topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainable aviation, cultural preservation, destination management, and the role of tourism in economic development. Other themes include transport, luxury travel, and tourism policy.

A leadership transition will take place during the summit, as WTTC Chair Greg O’Hara hands over to Manfredi Lefebvre, Chairman of Heritage Group and co-chair of luxury travel firm Abercrombie & Kent.

Lefebvre said, “This summit is a chance to discuss tourism’s role in shaping a more sustainable and connected future, with Rome providing a fitting setting for these conversations.”
Italy’s Tourism Appeal
Italy remains one of the world’s most visited countries, renowned for its rich blend of history, culture, cuisine, and stunning natural beauty. Tourism continues to evolve, with growing interest in sustainable travel, coastal tourism, and wellness.
Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè recently highlighted Italy’s broad appeal in tourism, from its cultural sites to luxury experiences.

The summit will showcase Italy’s tourism strengths and explore future opportunities for the global industry.
A Platform for Connection
Beyond its economic impact—contributing about 10% of global GDP and supporting 320 million jobs—tourism remains a key driver of cultural exchange, innovation, and human connection. The WTTC summit will explore how these values can guide future growth.
