Partnership Milestone: Qatar Airways and Kenya Airways Sign Bold 10-Year Positive Pact

Qatar Airways Resumes Flights Post Airspace Reopening

Qatar Airways and Kenya Airways have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership. The agreement includes plans for a comprehensive codeshare arrangement and more flight options between Kenya and Qatar Airways’ hub in Doha, Hamad International Airport.

The signing took place in Doha between the Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, and Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Allan Kilavuka.

As part of the partnership, Qatar Airways will introduce a third daily flight between Doha and Nairobi, operating in a codeshare arrangement with Kenya Airways. These flights will be available for booking soon. In addition, Kenya Airways will launch flights between Mombasa and Doha during the upcoming winter season, which will be marketed by Qatar Airways.

The two airlines will also expand their codeshare agreement to include additional destinations on both networks, aiming to enhance connectivity and provide passengers with more travel options.

Beyond passenger services, the partnership may also extend to other areas, including cargo, ground handling, airport services, product development, loyalty programs, procurement, and aircraft maintenance.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said the partnership reflects Qatar Airways’ continued interest in developing connections within Africa. He noted that the airline has been operating flights to Kenya for 20 years and continues to explore ways to support the region’s aviation and economic growth.

Mr. Allan Kilavuka stated that the partnership supports Kenya Airways’ business strategy and aims to enhance tourism and cargo operations, which are crucial for Kenya and the broader East African region.

Kenya Airways was recently recognised at the 2025 World Travel Awards, while Qatar Airways currently operates more than 170 weekly flights to 30 cities across Africa.

Qatar Airways has also adjusted its schedules in various African markets to enhance connectivity to key cities, including Brussels, Guangzhou, London, New York, and Washington via Doha.
