IndiGo’s Big Plans for FY26
IndiGo is making significant progress this year toward its goal of becoming a major global airline by 2030. Building on its core strengths in capacity growth, efficient operations, and a strong focus on cost leadership, the airline has consistently expanded its network both within India and internationally. IndiGo is establishing strong partnerships, broadening its product offerings, and enhancing customer experiences as it strives to fulfill its global value proposition. This strategy aligns with IndiGo’s commitment to supporting India’s ambition of becoming a global aviation hub. As the host airline for the IATA event, IndiGo is excited to welcome the global aviation community to Delhi, India’s capital city.
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said, “India is amongst the fastest growing aviation markets in the world; and as the largest Indian airline, IndiGo is committed to consistently increase its contribution to this growth. The financial year 2025 has been a pivotal year in our journey as we took significant steps in our evolution into a truly global airline. This includes introduction of IndiGoStretch, our tailor-made business offering, and BlueChip, our loyalty program, besides sizeable network expansion in the domestic as well as international market.”
“We are focused on our holistic growth to be able to offer affordable, convenient, on-time travel experience to our customers on a growing domestic and international route network. We also remain determined to maintain our cost leadership while continuously enhancing our operational efficiency and profitability, thereby, ensuring strong returns on our shareholders’ trust, support and investment”, he added.
Fleet Expansion
IndiGo is set to welcome one new aircraft to its fleet every week throughout FY26, expecting to exceed a fleet size of 600 aircraft by 2030. The airline has also signed an agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways for the damp lease of six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with deliveries anticipated to be completed by early 2026. Furthermore, the airline expects the arrival of the A350 in 2027. These additional aircraft will enhance IndiGo’s long-haul capabilities. FY26 (April 2025 – March 2026) will also see the integration of the long-range A321XLR into IndiGo’s fleet, allowing the airline to tap into new long-haul international markets that have not been directly connected to India before.
Network Expansion
Continuing IndiGo’s strategy of internationalization, the airline plans to add an impressive 10 new international destinations in all directions from India over the coming year, bringing its total to over 50 international destinations.
IndiGo has announced the start of long-haul operations, with non-stop, direct flights connecting Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam beginning in July 2025. As the airline’s fleet of damp-leased B787s grows later this year, IndiGo plans to further expand its long-haul network to include London and Copenhagen.
With the extended range capabilities of the A321XLR aircraft joining the IndiGo fleet, the airline will be able to further expand its European network by introducing direct flights to markets where Athens is planned to be added over the coming year. IndiGo will continue to strengthen its regional international network by adding four more Central Asian destinations. Additionally, the airline will re-activate non-stop services to Almaty and Tashkent from Mumbai. Tbilisi will also benefit from increased capacity with new non-stop flights from Mumbai.
IndiGo is entering the India-Cambodia market with direct flights to Siem Reap, marking its expansion in Southeast Asia. This comes after the successful launch of services to Langkawi, Penang, and Krabi last year. Additionally, the airline plans to increase capacity for flights to Denpasar, Bali (Indonesia), as well as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam.
This expansion represents yet another step in IndiGo’s global expansion plan, in combination with organic growth through increased frequencies on existing routes.
IndiGo is expanding its domestic network by adding four more destinations, increasing its total from 91 to 95 locations across the country. The airline is set to become the first to operate at the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Noida International Airport in Jewar, which will serve both the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi areas. Significant investments will be made to enhance capacity at these two airports, strengthening IndiGo’s presence in these large markets. Additionally, IndiGo will launch flights to and from Adampur Airport in Jalandhar starting July 1, 2025, and will also add services at Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad in the future.
Strengthening Operations
Currently, IndiGo operates two maintenance facilities with hangars located in Delhi and Bengaluru. Today, IndiGo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to develop a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility. Covering 31 acres of land, this new facility will be capable of servicing both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, thereby enhancing IndiGo’s maintenance capabilities and operational efficiency. With a fleet of over 400 aircraft and more than 900 on order, this dedicated MRO facility will provide a significant advantage in terms of aircraft availability, improved cost efficiencies, and faster turnaround times for the airline. It will also leverage India’s talent pool, further strengthening in-house and domestic capabilities.
Partnerships
IndiGo recognizes that strong mutually beneficial partnerships are an important cornerstone of success in international operations. In the recent past, IndiGo has been consistently building relationships with a growing set of codeshare partners and will continue to add more relationships and enhance the scope of existing ones. To this effect, the existing relationship with Japan Airlines will shortly become reciprocal, with IndiGo also placing its marketing flight codes on Japan Airlines between points in Southeast Asia and Tokyo, thus providing seamless connectivity for customers travelling between India and Japan. More partnership announcements can be expected soon.
Enhancing Customer Experience
To meet customers’ changing aspirations, IndiGo launched a customized business product called IndiGoStretch in November 2024. Currently, IndiGo operates an average of 140 daily flights with Stretch-enabled aircraft on key domestic routes, including Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Bengaluru, Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Hyderabad, and Mumbai-Bengaluru. By the end of the year, IndiGo plans to have 40 to 45 planes equipped with the IndiGoStretch product.
Driven by positive customer feedback and strong demand, IndiGo has decided to introduce its A321-based IndiGoStretch product in selected key regional international markets. Starting June 29, 2025, this 2-cabin A321 with IndiGoStretch will be gradually rolled out on all flights operating between Delhi and Mumbai, and destinations including Bangkok, Singapore, Phuket, and Dubai.
For the first time in IndiGo’s history, the airline is introducing complimentary hot meals and beverages from iconic home-grown Indian brands for customers on its long-haul routes to Manchester and Amsterdam.
Financial Performance
In FY25, IndiGo experienced impressive revenue growth of 18%, resulting in a total revenue of INR 841 billion / INR 840,982 million. This marks the first time the airline’s revenue has reached the $10 billion range, placing IndiGo among a select group of airlines worldwide with such a high turnover.
For the fiscal year 2025 (April 2024 to March 2025), IndiGo reported a strong net profit of INR 72,584 million, reflecting a 9% profit margin. Notably, for the quarter ending in March 2025, IndiGo achieved a net profit of INR 30,675 million, marking the highest fourth-quarter profit in its history.
