IndiGo has announced expansion into Europe with its first-ever non-stop flight from Mumbai to Amsterdam, set to launch on 02 July 2025. Upgrading its in-flight dining experience, IndiGo also announced that complimentary hot meals and beverages will be served to all customers on this route. The thrice weekly service, operated with IndiGo’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, marks the airline’s strategic foray into long-haul operations to meet the growing demand for air travel between India and Europe, facilitated by Indian operators. The flights are open for bookings across channels, including IndiGo’s official website www.goIndiGo.in, mobile app, and authorized travel partners.

The airline has consecutively announced its inaugural long-haul routes from Mumbai, adding Amsterdam and Manchester to its expanding international network.
This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in IndiGo’s growth, with Amsterdam and Manchester serving as the first long-haul destinations. With the introduction of additional 787-9s from Norse and the arrival of IndiGo’s A321XLRs beginning this year, along with A350 scheduled for 2027, a new era is on the horizon, enabling the airline to provide long-haul flights grounded in IndiGo’s distinct value proposition.
Aircraft configuration
To pursue its long-haul aspirations, IndiGo recently formed partnerships with Norse Atlantic Airways to damp lease four Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The inaugural Norse-operated flight for IndiGo commenced in March 2025, travelling the Mumbai-Bangkok route. With the addition of three more aircraft, IndiGo aims to establish a robust foundation for intercontinental expansion while waiting for the delivery of its A321XLR this year and A350-900 aircraft starting in 2027.
The wide-body aircraft features a roomy double-aisle layout, including 56 IndiGoStretch seats arranged in a comfortable 2x3x2 configuration, boasting a generous 43-inch seat pitch. The economy class has 282 seats configured in a 3x3x3 arrangement, offering a spacious 31-inch seat pitch for a pleasant travel experience.

IndiGoStretch customers on this new route will experience an enhanced in-flight dining service featuring specially curated complimentary hot meals accompanied by premium alcohol from renowned Indian brands, ensuring the journey is as enjoyable as the destination. IndiGo’s specially designed business product, IndiGoStretch, provides extra legroom, comfortable seating, and increased recline to enhance comfort on long-haul flights. Along with complimentary benefits such as priority check-in, flexible boarding, advance seat selection, and no convenience fee, customers will also benefit from an increased baggage allowance starting at 30 kgs for check-in and one cabin bag up to 12 kgs.
Specially Curated in-flight Dining:
For the first time, IndiGo is providing complimentary hot meals to all passengers in the IndiGoStretch and Economy cabins on this route. IndiGoStretch customers will enjoy free food and beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. In the Economy cabin, meals and non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary, but alcoholic beverages can be purchased on-board. The meals, primarily vegetarian, will be of high quality, and there will be an option to pre-book non-vegetarian meals during the booking process.
