IndiGo’s Central Asian Expansion
IndiGo has announced the launch of direct flights connecting Mumbai to Almaty, Tashkent, and Tbilisi. Operations to these Central Asian cities will begin in July and August 2025. This initiative is part of IndiGo’s broader plan to enhance its international presence and provide Indian travellers with improved access to emerging global destinations. The new routes will operate multiple times a week, offering passengers greater options and flexibility for business, leisure, and cultural travel.

IndiGo will launch direct flights from Mumbai to Almaty starting July 1, 2025, followed by Tashkent on August 1 and Tbilisi on August 2. These services will operate four times a week to Almaty and Tashkent, and three times a week to Tbilisi. The addition of these routes complements IndiGo’s previous expansion into Central Asia, which began with similar flights from Delhi in 2023. This further extends the airline’s reach and opens up Mumbai as a key departure hub for Central Asian travel. Frequent flyers and corporate travellers can now access these regions without relying on layovers or connecting flights.
New Routes To Boost Regional Tourism And Trade

The launch of direct flights from Mumbai to the capitals of Central Asia is expected to boost regional tourism, strengthen business connections, and facilitate smoother movement between people. The airline aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for unique international destinations. These cities offer a rich blend of culture, heritage, and modern experiences, making them appealing to Indian tourists. Furthermore, the enhanced connectivity is likely to benefit Indian exporters and businesses looking to establish a presence in Central Asia. Travel enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing cuisines, historic landmarks, and landscapes.
Strengthening India’s Global Aviation Footprint

By expanding its international offerings, IndiGo continues to play a key role in enhancing India’s global aviation links. The move not only supports tourism but also aligns with India’s broader strategic goals of improving trade and connectivity with Central Asian nations. With the launch of these new routes, IndiGo positions itself as a preferred carrier for travellers exploring new and less crowded destinations beyond traditional tourist circuits. The airline’s commitment to consistent service, affordability, and accessibility ensures broader reach and convenience for Indian flyers.
