IHG to Introduce First Kimpton Hotel in Indonesia with Kimpton Bali Ubud

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with PT Mustika Adiperkasa and GHS K.K. to launch the first Kimpton hotel in Indonesia. Scheduled to open in early 2026, Kimpton Bali Ubud will also mark IHG’s first hotel in Ubud, as the company continues to grow its luxury and lifestyle offerings across Indonesia.
Known for its distinctive design and focus on personal guest experiences, Kimpton has established a presence across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Kimpton Bali Ubud will offer 101 rooms designed to complement the surrounding landscape, located along the WOS River and within walking distance of Ubud Palace. The hotel aims to integrate local heritage and the natural setting to offer a peaceful retreat.
The property will also feature Kimpton’s signature dining experiences, including IMAMURA, a Japanese restaurant led by Michelin-starred Chef Imamura in partnership with GHS K.K. The restaurant will focus on blending traditional Japanese techniques with modern culinary approaches.
Satoru Kondo, President of GHS K.K., said, “We’re pleased to bring the Kimpton brand to Bali through our continued collaboration with IHG. Kimpton’s approach to hospitality aligns with our vision for this project in Ubud.”
Rajit Sukumaran, SVP & Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, added, “We are seeing growing demand for varied travel experiences in Bali. Kimpton Bali Ubud will offer an additional option for travellers looking to explore the cultural and scenic aspects of the region.”
Located around 90 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, the hotel will offer access to nearby attractions such as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, Tegallalang Rice Terraces, and Ubud Palace.
Kimpton Bali Ubud will include three restaurants, a café/deli, a gym, a spa, and a swimming pool, designed to provide a balance of cultural exploration and relaxation.
Indonesia remains an important growth market for IHG, with 31 hotels currently open and 11 more in development. Kimpton Bali Ubud will join IHG’s expanding portfolio of luxury and lifestyle properties across Indonesia, including Regent Bali Canggu and Six Senses Uluwatu.
Founded in 1981 in San Francisco, Kimpton pioneered the concept of boutique, design-focused hotels in the U.S. Its presence in Asia has grown steadily, with locations in Taipei, Bangkok, and Samui, and several upcoming openings in cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Frankfurt, Marbella, Riyadh, Hainan, Crete, and Hong Kong.
