The Four Seasons Hotel Osaka has launched a collection of unique guest experiences that showcase the city’s blend of ancient traditions and modern innovation. Dojima River Private Cruise: Exploring the Water City of Osaka
The Dojima River links past and present, featuring retro-style buildings, grand bridges, historic water gates, and the famous Osaka Castle. Cruising along this river- essential to Osaka’s growth- gives visitors a view of the city’s evolution over the centuries. Exploring the riverbanks unveils stories from when merchant and artisan communities thrived. As one passes the remnants of ancient warehouses and the site of the former Tenma Market, a pivotal trading center and the birthplace of futures trading in Japan, one can truly feel the depth of the city's rich history.
This storied boat ride can be enjoyed along three routes:
Timeless Grandeur: Nakanoshima to Osaka Castle - Scenic cruise of Nakanoshima’s modern architecture and bridges (east of Midosuji) – Osaka Castle views (from Osaka Business Park area)
- Departure and arrival: Wakamatsu-Hama Pier (approximately 10 minutes by taxi from the hotel)
- Duration: 50 minutes
- Price: JPY 27,000 per group (2–8 guests); price includes tax; a 10 percent service charge will be added.
Serenity & Energy: Nakanoshima to Dotonbori - Scenic cruise of Nakanoshima’s modern architecture and bridges (east of Midosuji) – Higashiyokobori River Lock – Dotonbori River
- Departure: Wakamatsu-Hama Pier (approximately 10 minutes by taxi from the hotel)
- Arrival: Namba Minatomachi Pier (approximately 10 minutes by taxi to the hotel)
- Duration: 50 minutes
- Price: JPY 27,000 per group (2–8 guests); price includes tax; a 10 percent service charge will be added.
Bespoke Water Journey: A Personalised Cruise - Customize a cruise route to suit individual preferences. From historic landmarks to hidden gems, enjoy a bespoke journey.

Timeless Elegance: Tenma Kiriko Experience
This hands-on experience introduces travellers to Osaka’s rich glassmaking heritage. Kiriko, the traditional Japanese craft of cut glass, is known for its intricate patterns and vibrant reds and blues. Building on this legacy, local studio Tenma Kiriko combines time-honoured cutting techniques with innovative designs, creating a glittering kaleidoscopic effect that has become famous in Japan and beyond. As the modern-day custodian of Osaka’s glassmaking culture, Tenma Kiriko is a testament to the magic that happens when tradition and progress go hand in hand. During this exclusive experience, guests visit a Tenma Kiriko workshop to watch local artisans in action and participate in some parts of the glassmaking process. Once finished, the pieces can be taken home as a meaningful memento.

Knives made in Sakai, Osaka, are esteemed not just in Japan but also by chefs worldwide. This excursion provides a unique chance to explore the essence of Osaka’s distinguished craftsmanship by witnessing the art of Sakai Uchihamono knife-making. In this timeless process, characterized by a careful division of labor, various artisans combine their unique expertise to create each extraordinary knife. It's a rare opportunity to appreciate the human element behind the Sakai legacy.
