InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, located in the jungles of Central Vietnam’s Son Tra Peninsula, has launched the “Bill Bensley Digital Design Tour.” This tour allows guests to explore the resort and learn about Bill Bensley’s unique architectural design, which blends naturally into the environment with many surprising elements.
The digital tour is available on any smart device and serves as a handy guide for guests as they explore this 39-hectare resort. It takes visitors through four levels: Heaven, Sky, Sea, and Earth. Guests can discover how Bensley drew inspiration from Vietnamese architecture, culture, and nature to create this unique destination.

The tour starts in the resort’s reception area and explains the inspiration behind its colours. The black-and-white design represents yin and yang, and bright colours like lemon yellow, lime green, and tangerine orange are used throughout the resort, including in the rooms and restaurants. The tour also highlights how the five elements—fire, water, earth, wood, and metal—create a rich mix of textures.
Bensley and his team took inspiration from Vietnam’s ancient temples, palaces, and pagodas. The tour guides visitors from the resort’s Ta Quan gate to discover temple gardens, cobblestone courtyards, curved roofs, and hanging lanterns. These traditional features contrast with elements from Vietnam’s rural life, such as wooden buildings inspired by fishing villages and the colonial style of La Maison 1888, the resort's Michelin-starred French restaurant. Guests can enjoy meals in conical hats at Citron, which overlooks the ocean, and even see Quonset huts from the American War at Mi Sol Spa.

Bensley cares deeply about conservation, and the entire InterContinental Danang project was designed to blend with the environment and protect local plants and animals. Visitors can admire the large banyan tree at the hotel’s entrance, a “Tree of Life” design on the floor, and a bronze shell-like structure hanging from the ceiling. A playful monkey fountain welcomes guests at Citron, along with sketches of local birds and marble cows grazing in the Buffalo Garden.
The Bill Bensley Digital Design Tour also invites guests to ride on the Nam Tram, a funicular railway that connects the resort’s four levels and offers stunning sea views. Designed like a local basket with a roof resembling a non-la hat, this exciting 80-second ride through the forest is a highlight of the tour. After visiting the Sky Level heritage village and The OUTSIDER Gallery, which showcases Bensley’s artworks, guests can return to Sea Level for a refreshing drink at L_O_N_G Bar, known for its 50-meter-long counter, ceiling fans, and suspended chairs inspired by fisherman’s baskets.
