New Ruby Hotel in Berlin
IHG Welcomes Ruby Hotels
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of its inaugural Ruby Hotels following its acquisition of the brand in February 2025. The brand will make its debut in Berlin with a 375-room Ruby Hotel, slated to open in early 2028. This property is being developed in partnership with the real estate investment firm Empira Group and will be managed by The Ruby Group. Additionally, the brand's first Ruby Hotel in Denmark will be located in Copenhagen, offering 219 guest rooms and expected to launch in early 2027, through a collaboration with ECE, also managed by The Ruby Group.
IHG’s 20th brand, Ruby Hotels, offers guests a laid-back atmosphere, combining design and genuine narratives inspired by the cities they inhabit. The brand’s ‘Lean Luxury’ philosophy features distinctive elements such as comfortable beds, rejuvenating showers in guest rooms, and unique cocktails available in destination bars around the clock—all designed to connect guests with desirable cities affordably.
Germany ranks among Europe’s largest hotel markets, benefiting from robust domestic demand as well as inbound and outbound tourism. In 2023, the country recorded approximately 490 million overnight stays, making it one of the top five destinations in Europe. IHG is dedicated to enhancing its presence in Germany, a crucial European market, by pursuing strategic growth and diversifying its brand offerings.
The new Ruby Hotel in Berlin expands IHG’s growing portfolio in Germany, where it currently operates 147 hotels and has an additional 75 in development. The hotel also adds to a growing pipeline of properties in Berlin, including the recently signed Bristol Berlin, Vignette Collection. In Denmark, the new Ruby Hotels signing complements IHG’s existing Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers property.

Karin Sheppard, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said “When we acquired the Ruby Hotels brand, we saw really exciting opportunities to grow the brand both here in Europe and around the world as it meets the demands of owners and guests for a premium urban lifestyle offering. As such, we are delighted to announce our first Ruby Hotel signings, together with The Ruby Group, less than six weeks since we welcomed the brand to our portfolio.
We have seen widespread positivity and enthusiasm from our owners and investors for Ruby Hotels as they look to develop in the growing urban micro subsegment. These latest signings in Berlin and Copenhagen are strong reinforcements of the brand’s success in strategic city centre locations, and we can’t wait to see both hotels bring their style and charm to travellers in these two energetic capitals.”
Situated in the acclaimed Ku'damm Eck building on the illustrious Kurfürstendamm Boulevard, the new Ruby Hotel in Berlin promises guests a hospitality experience in one of the city’s most iconic areas. Hotel guests will find themselves at the centre of Berlin’s history, culture, entertainment, and access to a rooftop terrace on the 12th floor that provides stunning panoramic views of Berlin’s renowned shopping and cultural boulevard.
The Ruby Hotel in Copenhagen plans to transform an existing office space into a destination for guests. The project will feature public areas, a winter garden on the ground floor, and a rooftop terrace with panoramic city views. Located in Frederiksberg, one of the most esteemed districts of Copenhagen, the property is surrounded by a rich culinary scene, cultural sites, and charming independent shops.
Founded in 2013, the Ruby brand now includes 20 hotels situated in key cities throughout Europe, with an additional 12 hotels under construction, all expected to open within the next three years. In Germany, the brand features nine hotels located in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart.
