IHG Expands Luxury Offerings in Portugal

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a dual-branded hotel with 309 rooms in the popular tourist hotspot of Cascais, Portugal. Partnering with Grupo Onyria, the Onyria Marinha Cascais and Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais are expected to open within this year and the next.

IHG’s luxury and lifestyle collection rapidly expands, ranking the second largest globally. Onyria Marinha Cascais, Vignette Collection, and Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais contribute to Portugal’s portfolio of six operational and eight upcoming hotels, which includes Kimpton Atlântico Algarve and Kimpton Lisbon, as well as Convent Square Lisbon, Vignette Collection, and Casa da Companhia Hotel & Spa, Vignette Collection. Additionally, these properties will be complemented by the newly signed Six Senses Comporta, anticipated to open in 2028, and Hotel Indigo Albufeira, expected to launch in the first half of 2025, highlighting the strength of IHG’s extensive luxury and lifestyle offerings.

Situated in the heart of Quinta da Marinha, the hotels will nestle in a tranquil and secluded area of Cascais, surrounded by the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Golden sandy beaches, along with a variety of shops and restaurants, are just a short stroll away.

Onyria Marinha Cascais, part of the Vignette Collection, and Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais will be conveniently situated near the capital, only a 30-minute drive from Lisbon International Airport.

The Onyria Marinha Cascais Vignette Collection boasts 111 keys and offers two restaurants, a bar, and 10 event spaces. Guests can enjoy the summers and winters with various activities, including outdoor pools, a Tennis & Padel Club, a Horse-Riding Centre, and a hunting lodge venue. For those seeking relaxation, the hotel also includes an indoor pool and a wellness spa, equipped with several massage rooms, a sauna, a hammam, and a sensory shower.

Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais will boast 198 rooms, including 10 suites, a spa featuring three massage rooms, a sauna, a hammam, and Vichy showers. Guests can choose from three restaurants and two bars and enjoy both an indoor and an outdoor pool. The hotel will also offer a children's pool and kids club, complemented by an 18-hole golf course, making it a perfect destination for families visiting Cascais. Serving locals and business travellers alike, Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais will provide 12 conference rooms and a lake house venue, which is ideal for gatherings of any size.

Onyria Marinha Cascais, part of the Vignette Collection, will become part of IHG’s initial collection brand. Since its launch in 2021, it has provided an effective platform for distinctive hotel owners to leverage IHG’s enterprise solutions and global reach. In just three years, the brand has already crossed the halfway mark towards its goal of attracting 100 hotels by 2030.

Kimpton was a trailblazer in offering unique, design-oriented hotels in the United States. Established in 1981 by the innovative hotelier Bill Kimpton, the brand draws inspiration from his European travels where he recognized the potential for a hotel experience that goes beyond mere accommodation- creating places where guests feel a true sense of belonging and adventure. Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais contributes to IHG’s expanding portfolio, which now includes eight Kimpton properties in Europe, with Kimpton Lisbon and Kimpton Sicily having been signed last year.
